I guess I should have put this in a new thread initially, and if there is an old thread on this topic, I did do a search, and I appologize ahead of time. On to the question at hand:
I was hanging out with someone in my dorm today and they told me that they heard that Pearl Jam stopped making videos because they could never one up "Jeremy" while I was under the impression that they felt that because of MTV and the like, that music videos were too commercial and detracted from the music. Please, set this straight.
for both song and video, pj has "one upped" jeremy a few times over. well maybe once for the video, since there has only been dte. unless you count i am mine, but even that is better than jeremy.

I think even more than the commericalism of the video is the way in which videos put an interpretive stamp on the song. There aren't many ways to take Jeremy after that video, so it is harder for people to make the song thier own. I think one of the reasons why they did make one for DTE is that they felt the song had an important message that they didn't wnat reinterpreted.

i sure hope not. we would need new songs, too, and that seems to be a long time coming.

I was looking on Yahoo Launch and there's videos on there for Love Boat Captain and Save You. They aren't live videos, they look like regular videos. Anyone know what's up with them?
