I have had "Last Soldier" on a burned CD of mine for awhile and I was wondering if it was written by the band and if it is why dont they put this on a CD? It is one song that is really powerfull.

Last Soldier is one of the best Mike songs. Better than Down.

Yes. Mike wrote the music and Eddie the lyrics. It was officially released on the 2001 Christmas single. Personally, I don't think it's that great of a song.

i seriously doubt its an improv, especially considering the guitar bridge and transition out of it. if it was an improv though it would clearly have to be the greatest improv in the history of music. either way its in my top ten pearl jam songs and i need to see a studio version (that's all i wanted out of lost dogs, it could have been the only song and i would've been happy)

I thought first time was a good improv....basically most of their improvs are damn good and should be released.

I remember when I first heard Last Soldier. I grabbed it off Kazza with the Bridge version of I Am Mine, the first one, it was slower tempo.. Anyway, this was like a week before I was going to move home after living in Ottawa for school for a year. I had just broken up with my girlfriend, and I had been up all night. Then I find these two new PJ tracks and I was ecstatic. I haven't heard Last Soldier in a while but I remember a line about 'having to leave' or something. It was kindof a sad time for me, I remember the music having an effect. Mikey rules.. we need more Mike songs..
