I was driving to Jacksonville this past weekend listening to the Soldier Field boot and something popped into my head. After hearing all the live, heavy riff laiden songs, for some reason the Of the Girl chords came into my thoughts and I heard them the way they might sound if played heavy and loud. This might sound retard and it is hard to describe but I think if you played the chords to that song loud and distorted it could sound like something off of Vs. or Vitalogy. Anyone understand what I'm getting at?

Thoughts? Have I hit on something or am I mildly retarded?

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it, I like it the way it is too, but maybe louder and faster would be cool too. And no I don't play guitar so I won't be experimenting.

you should get someone to do it if you don´t play guitar and share it so we can see what your idea is
but I like it the way it is...

I think it's a wonderful idea! I've got it playing in my head right now, and it sounds great...

C'm'on Pearl Jam! Just do it...

It'd be cool to hear. I was expecting can't keep to be a hard fast song and it was neat to hear the slower, more mystical version on the album.

i think the fact that chorus is pretty mellow that unless you pick the melody up in the chorse, playing it harder, louder or faster will produce the same thing. the song is enjoyable because its a foreplay song without the sex. it just makes you think taht its going somwhere amazing and it just toys around with agreat bassline and good lyrics, but it doesn't kick it up a notch in the chorus or overjam themselves at the end.

i don't kow what my conclusion is. i think i wished the song was something more when i first heard it, but i like it now as a set openner and such.

the title of this thread lead me to believe that GEG had covered it.

I am disappointed.

meh........it doesn't sound particularly good. There's not much to the chorus really and the intro just sounds sort of Metallica-ized. You can make it sound pretty heavy and mean but then that's not the same song you know? There can be no heavy Of The Girl. I tried the lead part with some wah and I liked that though...........

although i like it the way it is now, i would love to hear a rougher and faster version of it. it's a song with a lot of potential, i think it's possible to get an angry vs vibe to it, could work.
