A Day Late
Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder screwed himself on Tuesday during a performance in Denver. He figured that since he had a big audience and it was a rock concert an' everything, it'd be a good opportunity to whip up some anti-Bush sentiment. Bad move.
Seems that as part of the show Vedder "impaled a mask of President Bush on a microphone stand, then slammed it to the stage." This drew mixed cheers and boos.
But dozens of angry fans walked out during the encore because of the macabre display with the Bush mask, which he wore for the song Bushleaguer, a Bush-taunting song from the band's latest album, Riot Act. Concertgoer Keith Zimmerman says of the incident, "I wasn't sure if it was really happening. We looked at each other and realized he really did have George Bush's head on a stick and was waving it in the air, then slammed it to the ground and stepped on it."
Maybe it was the sight of fans streaming toward the door that had Vedder backpedaling frantically. "Just to clarify," he said later in the show, "we support the troops."

Basically--the amount of fans who left has been debated. The far bigger incident, which got less media attention, was the Uniondale 03 version of Bushleaguer when a 1/3rd to 2/3rd's (depending on who you listen to--I was there and thought it was closer to 1/3rd but many disagree.

I'm a registered Republican(flame away) and to say I am displeased with Bush would be an understatement. Bush isn't a Republican....I don't know what he is.

I'm curious, what is your reasoning for registering with a party at all, regardless of Republican or Democrat et al.?

In Europe Matt violently masturbated and ejaculated onto a picture of the president of Finland, but no one walked out. Guess Europeans can cope better or something.

I associate myself with a party that is interested is a couple of things:
1. fiscal responsiblity(wars tend to be expensive)
2. similar ethical beliefs(uh, lying and ruining lives isn't ethical. No person with a brain can defend the lying anymore)
3.I am a propent of low taxes, and small government. The government is designed to SERVE the people, not EMPLOY.
I certainly understand the arguement for a solid third party. I also understand the reality of it isn't strong. It may happen, but probably not during our lives. So I am a member of a party who has similar beliefs to myself.
Like I said, flame away, and probably move to appropiate board...

In Washington, if you want to volunteer at election time, you MUST register to a party. And they only offer the big 3.

He's a fucking dictator. And he deserves a dictator's fate.
