I never understood why Wal-Mart edits their music, but not their movies. Seems very hypacritical.

but only the ones that would have a parental advisory i think, and they are marked on the sticker if they are edited.
as for movies, they dont do any editing but they rarely carry unrated versions of movies.

now somehting i wasnt sure of, does walmart actually do the editing or do they only stock edited versions of the albums, i assume other places also cary edited music and not just walmart

who buys these edited versions? :?

anyway, glad to know this. it really gets hard not to have a too negative image of the USA over here.

no, they only carry the edited versions. i just meant he "accidently" bought it by not knowing they edit their music. a guy i work with didnt know they edit their music and boy was he surprised when he put in the new kanye west cd.

hahaha, awesome.
and I thought the parental advisory stickers were stupid (except for "This album contains language which some listeners may find objectionable. They can f?!* off and buy something from the New Age section!")

boy boy, it can clearly get a lot worse than that.

I assume they dont make edited versions of movies, without the cursing, violence, and nudity. Thats why Wal-Mart sells the regular versions. They say that morals prevail in their corporation, but that appears to only be true if it dosent interfer with their profits. Not selling movies would definitely hurt their profits, because I assume they sell more DVDs then anyone company in the world.

Yeah, that sucks. But America is not all that bad...
And I'm speaking this as an European...
Sure, some things bother me, lots of things..but there's also so many good things about that country. I know it as a fact. I was there. I lived there for a few months.

You should take a trip to USA next time, Angus

And EDITING music sucks! :x

isnt it against copyright law to edit music without the artist's permission?

I think the label gives the permission.

Wal-Mart won't carry music with an explicit lyrics sticker. So, if I, as an artist, want my music to be sold at Wal-Mart (which is far and away the biggest music retailer in the United States), I have to provide an edited copy. I have a choice NOT to provide an edited copy and Wal-Mart won't create one, but then half the nation can't buy my music in the store where they buy all their music.

It was one of the arguments against labeling music with Explicit Lyrics stickers in the first place.
