I know you people don´t like this kind of threads but I don´t care.
I was watching the presentation on Pink Pop 2000 and this came to mind.
It seems to me that the band has passed through this 4 states: Anger, Confusion, Depression and Hope.
This states have been represented in the music as well as the live performance.
Something like this:

1991 - 1995 - Anger
1996 - 1999 - Confusion
2000 - 2004 - Depression
2005 - 2009 - Hope

What do you think??

PD: Sorry about the english.

S/T wouldn't classify as being under "Hope", I think.

Anger, Depression and Hope, sure... but Confusion for No Code and Yield?

I don't see "confusion" for Yield at all.

You can see that something change in Avocado, it was not depression ala Riot Act, it was anger but not wasted anger, it was anger telling you to do something, to be pro-active, this can be observe in the bridge of Not For You when they performed live, when Ed sings "With no power, So much to do" instead of "Nothing to Do". To me this is "hope".

The "Confusion State" is debatable, I don´t know why I came with that, maybe for lack of a better word, but the 1996 - 1999 is an era that close the early days, the post-angst era and the beginning of the realization that the things weren´t doing the way that they want it, hence the confusion and the pre-depression.

Maybe I´m looking too much into it.

That's a weird statement. Not sure you can box them so simplistically as that.

I´m not apologizing to PunkDavid, I´ve said that cause english is not my first language and maybe I´m not so understandable in my words.

Rather than make a new topic about how lame PJ Chat has been lately, I'll copy and paste this statement into every thread that qualifies as being lame. This PJ Chat is turning into synergy... :?

I find this hard to argue with.

I'm glad you extended "Good" to 2002 to cover the release of Riot Act.

Was that intended?

(Probably not.)
