Ha, I guess I misread your post (so much for me).
Don't know about the riff, as I'm not a musician, but they do play it live. They opened with it in Atlantic City, which was incredible. I think they've played it at 3 of the 10 or so shows i've been to.

It's indeed the guitar,
and they do play it live, but it sounds quite different. The guitar sound on the studio version is much more "bassy" than live.

I know that they play it live, but I was wondering if they ever played it like the studioversion with that low sound:)

Not from what I've ever heard. If they did, though, I'd sure like to know when and where.

What does the singing say near the end? I see the light? Could even sound like Lady Godiva

I don't think it's lady godiva. I've always wondered about that and never remember to ask.

Saw this live in '98....was in heaven.
I've seen it live a few times. It's very good--but like Yellow ledbetter I like the less distorted studio versions.

Saw it live Charlotte 2000
My favorite version (besides the studio) St. Louis 2003.
Matt's approach is very different from Jack's on this song. When the song kicks in, Matt pounds the ride cymbal like a constant beating jack hammer; it's pretty cool IMO.
