i always presumed this was in drop d, but in the tab book it says its in E flat. i asked my guitar teacher about it and he said he played it in a band, and they played it down a half step. i tried playing along with the recording in both tunings, but neither sound exactly right. it sounds a tiny bit too sharp for D but way too flat for E flat. help me here? it looks like its in D when played live but the recording might be different, the only reason i thought id look into this is because of what my teacher said, i just assumed the tab book was wrong :?

from what i've heard, read, and tried, the song is in e flat, but the recording was sped up slightly so it will sound a bit sharp if you're trying to play along with it.

hope this helps!!!

It's in Open D, and you'll be able to pick up the tab on giventowail.

It was recorded in Open D, then the sound was sped up which affects the pitch; hence it sounding slightly sharper. That tab book is full of errors - stick by giventowail and you should be fine.

Yeah, Stone is in open D and Mike is in standard. It's really obvious live. If you see videos you will hear what sounds like a D power chord, but Stone uses one finger to play it. Particularly the chorus evidences this. Mike is just standard + wail.

yup its sped up on TEN, the re-recorded version is in a normal speed, and correctly in the dropped D/open D tuning. You can play the song just dropped D, i never really bother tuning the whole guitar to open D for even flow, besides it lets me switch to do crazy solos with the rest of the guitar in standard tuning like mike.

Play along to the remixed version and you should be fine.
