I think he also said he could kick Simons ass
I would hope so...he's like 60 years old. I saw him and Garfukel on their Old Friends tour though and Simon actually had some pretty big arms. He must take a weight set on tour with him.

"Eddie: '...I hate that idea of records where it's like,
"OK, here's the song with strings. This is the ballad. This is the reggae song..."'
That way, you ended up sounding like a musical tourist.
'Absolutely,' Eddie grinned widely.
'Like, "I'm Paul Simon and I need a fucking career so I'll go
to Africa or South America and I'll take their music, but I'll erase their words
and write my own because I'm so fucking brilliant and cute." What shit.
"You can be my bodyguard and you can call me Al..." What a fucking genius.'
'"You can call me Al"' muses Jeff Ament. 'Do you think he's into Aleister Crowley, too?'
'Definitely,' sputtered a vastly amused Eddie Vedder.
'Paul Simon is the fucking Anti-Christ.
'Listen,' he said, warming up to this. 'I never usually say anything bad about anybody,
so I'm gonna break one of my own fuckin' rules here. I just gotta say this.
Man, I saw Paul Simon in real life once. It was at that Bob Dylan celebration
thing in New York. He was in the crowd backstage, that's where I saw him.
'I had nightmares about him afterwards. He's fucking scary. Have you ever seen
his face, close up? He looks like a premature baby eaglet that's just cracked out
of his shell. It's really frightening.
'Of course, I'm really only saying bad things about him because I know if I ever
meet him I can kick the shit out of him. I mean, he's only so fucking tall,' he said,
making a gesture that suggested Simon was even more vertically-challenged than you had
imagined.
'Yeah, but what if his wife takes you on?' asked Jeff Ament.
'Who's he married to?'
'Edie Brickell.'
'Oh, fuck,' Eddie groaned theatrically. 'Then I'd be in big fucking trouble.'"
I cut this out form a interview somewhere, can't remember which one..
He might have said something else about Simon another place, but this is what I've got..

Is it really his rule not to talk badly about people? I was at the Boston shows from last summer--#1 when he started ripping Celine Dion out of the blue (not that I'm a fan). Also has taken at least one shot at Good Charlotte.
I don't like those artist, but I still find his comments unnessary.
This Paul Simon thing is rediculous. I'm not a huge fan. But most of what he he said was juvenille.
I cannot give him a pass on this. It's Eddie's ugly side and it comes out from time to time.
i like some old simon and garfunkle but that was pretty funny. Everyone rips on bands that some may consider talented once in awhile. plus simon had some shady dealings around graceland so, I' guessing ed knew more than any of us about it and felt justifyed.
paul simon is a talented songwriter and i think ed is off base on his comments...but we are both just stating personal opinions here and you know what they say about opinions/assholes...
for those who don't have "rhythm of the saints" i'd recommend that cd
