Covers usually sound better live. I doubt that they would seriously think about putting one on a studio album.
I always wanted them to do Kick Out the Jams, so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment. I just want to hear it at a concert that I'm at now.
If I could pick another one though, I'd go for Pour Some Sugar On Me just because I think it would be hilarious to hear Ed sing, "I'm hot, sticky sweet, from my head to my feet yeah."
I always loved Kick Out The Jams and thought Pearl Jam could do justice to it. I was at the Grand Rapids show in Oct. 2004 that it was first added to their repertoire. I can't describe the joy felt when I heard Ed say, " Right now it's time to.....Kick out the jams mutha@#$%!!!". I'm not sure how many other fans at the show were as ecstatic as I was, but It was one of my many great Pearl Jam moments.

I was thinking of starting a similar thread... simply because I think they missed a golden chance to do 2 covers on the recent tour, and release them as "fund raisers" for the Hurricane relief..... those 2 songs being
"Polk Salad Annie" : Tony Joe White (made famous by Elvis)
and
"House of the Rising Sun" : by Son House made famous by the Animals and Dylan.....
first line of Polk Salad "Down in Louisianna"
first line of House "There Is a House in New Orleans"
House especially would sound awesome, and if they went with the arrangements Elvis used in either 72 or late 75, Polk Salad could really "sock a lil"
At least if they did this... one of these two songs could possible replace Last Kiss as the dreaded "our biggest radio hit" song
Hell even Born on the Bayou from CCR would have made a decent cover to release as a fund raiser cd single.

Maybe as a hidden track, though. Like Hummus... Then I would like it to be Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day. I'm a little uncertain if Ed would hit the high notes, though.
