is an important part on the Yield trip. Take it away and Yield loses its balance.

Discuss.

Red dot is an utterly utterly pointless song that brings absolutley nothing to the table thematically, is a stupid listen, and kills the momentum of DTE

Agreed with Stip 100%. Before Red Dot comes on I'm already reaching for the skip button.

I know the Yield b-sides sucked but I would've rather seen U in its place.

Really has no purpose on the record, but as far as PJ filler goes, its def my favorite. It grew on me. Maybe too many times listening to the record where I would have had to walk across my room to skip it and I just gave up lol. I dunno. But I dont mind it at all.

It's the essence of Jack Iron's drumming, so it's an important historical document.

It's also the palate cleansing break in the middle, like flipping an LP over to side 2. This ties in nicely to the classic rock/70's vibe of the album.

I think it's kinda funky. And it's the perfect segue into MFC.

Isn't Stupid Mop the worst PJ filler?

Can we leave other filler songs out of this thread please? I should probably make another "worst/best filler" thread just to avoid this thread becoming one. I want to talk about how this song fits perfectly into the Yield trip.

It ended the legacy of the number 8 track songs being the most rockin’ song on the CD.
Because of that I will always despise the Red Dot.

yes - this is a very important point.

the first 3 were legendary:
porch
rvm
corduroy

the next was not legendary, but very respectable: red mosquito

then they fuck it up with red dot. what the fuck.

they tried to rectify with of the girl, but it should have been insignificance. then you are isn't bad, education is OK, drifting is great, big wave kind of sucks.

There's that scene in SVT where Red Dot is the intro music before PJ takes the stage... the camera follows behind Eddie.

It's not quite Master/Slave, but still a cool pre-show intro!

Side-Note...There's nothing better than that feeling when the lights go out and you know you have 2+ hours of PJ ahead of you. And you're only care in the world is "fuck I hope they don't play Pilate tonight" :)

Even though I don't have a problem with Red Dot, I kinda prefer the Untitled "Got a Car" intro that they play live.

But either way, the knowledge that I'm about to hear MFC makes me :D

the shit filler like on yield and vitalogy really makes me wonder what the fuck the band was thinking. Usually bands throw crap on thier when the album sucks.
