I was listening to a boot while doing some yard work and it got me curious. How many of you, when listening to live boots, listen to the entire RVM jam? I think the 6-8 minute jams are pretty entertaining live, but don't translate as well to headphones or a car stereo. As much as I like them live, when listening to shows later I generally fast-forward the long jams , or at least I'm pleased when I hear Jeff's telltale bass notes indicating the jam is ending. Is this blasphemy?

That's funny, the extended jams in RVM and Porch are my favourite car listening! I think it's awesome to sit back and listen to them hit a groove and explore it while driving along. Each to their own, I guess.
im with you on that...cause i think that live they are entertainng but on the boots...the porch...rvm...and even flow jams just dont seem as strong...fun...entertaining through the headphones

Porch jams are great, but the RVM jams can drag on a bit, especially some of those noisy ones from 2000. Best RVM jam is from Melbourne - March 17, 1995.

Definitely blasphemous.

I've noticed that the RVM jams from this tour are definately a lot better than past tours. I wish they would take more of the new songs into unexplored jams in concert. I like all of their extended jams on any of the songs.

I mostly agree with this. I 've always loved the porch jams for their intensity and crazy Mike solo's (and also the different riffs that were added in during the Dave A. era)
The only time's i didn't care much for porch was during the 2000 tour, but otherwise that song is amazing (the version from the Letterman webcast is my current favorite, with ed singing "I want to hold your hand")
RVM jams are awesome too, but I don't always feel like listening to it, although this years RVMs have a different feel to the jam which make me like it more.

Porch-jam is great, E-Flo-Jam awesome ... but I have to agree, the RVM-jam can be a drag at times (when listening to the boot). I usually skip the jam when I listen to a boot. But lately a RVM-jam where Ed sang/sung something (San Diego?), really caught my attention and I really liked it. I guess I just don't like those long, noisy jams where they could fit another "regular" song in.
San Diego 06 RVM has to be the best version of 06. It is long, jammy, and fucking amazing and it lasts for 10:15 minutes. The energy, and crowd clapping during the breakdown go hand in hand with one another. It is really something that every fan needs to hear.
Ed sings the part below during the break down. Amazing, and simply beautiful.
Time heals the wounds that no one can see

I will forgive, I will forgive, I will forgive.....
