Yes, I was kicked out of the Ten Club for "leaking the album". I think the real reason I was kicked out was that I wouldn't apologize to Timmy and cower before his might. He asked if I leaked it and the sum and total of my reply was basically to fuck off. My punishment is that I don't get to receive hastily thrown together songs on an outdated medium yearly, and instead of getting my own tickets I now use other people's accounts. It's rough.

See you in LA on the 9th.

You're basing your opinion of a person based on what music they listen to?

Goddamn you're an idiot.

Adam's a great guy, fuck off.

Great point.

Might I suggest that you do the same.

if we stretch farther back, you got evenflow.org where this guy had loads of mp3's of rarities. older than that you had of course 5H and then a bunch of other sites. Everywhere from Garden of Stone mailing list to this guy Chris Faulkner or something whose pj site was chrisfaulkner.com or something. he basically stole ALL of 5H's content till they like sued him or something for copyright infringement. Then there was also places the Pearl Jam Cyberspace and a bunch of other sites. All before Synergy popped onto the scene in the fall of '96. And THE place to get news was always the newsgroup amp-j.

I used to read the AOL Pearl Jam bulletin board back in like 9th grade. What a cesspool that was.

Jason Brown, I beleive his name was, and MAN did that stir up the shit in the pearl jam world!

Fall of 99, i think it was, and 5a1 was doing something that was REALLY borderline in terms of boot trading. As opposed to doing B&P's for shows, he was basically selling the shows for around cost of B&P, maybe a little more. This practice seriously divided people into camps about whether he was doing a service to the commuity or stealing from the band (and the community). Imagine today's dispute about mp3's and when they can be distributed based on the wishes of traders, and you saw similar lines drawn and horrible fights.

He eventually lost his ten club number too, and I think that Caryn was instrumental in pressing against Jason and what he was doing (reporting him to 10C, etc...).

The thing is, I think he might have even been selling mp3-sourced discs, which didn't impress me as super-shitty at the time, but now it makes me nuts that anyone would ever do such a thing.

I personally love stories of characters like this getting caught doing unsavory things. There's this guy on etree.org that has a HUGE PJ list and well he was caught selling boots to people, lost the 10C membership and was booted from every reputable trading circle. He came forward apologizing, but it was funny because he claimed to have a kid that was sick that caused him to have to sell the boots. Turns out, he wasn't even married, let alone had a kid. What a loser... I love those types of stories.

yeah, I remember the shit storm it started in the AMPJ group and the fallout with Caryn...I remember locking horns with Jason over it myself

I just wasn't sure if there was another 5A1 site with similar content

I bet you never imagined how that was going to turn out when they traded him for JJ. I know I didn't.

What's up Rick!? How the hell you been man?!

And James, yeah, i was captnemo. And someone else mentioned evenflow.org, that guy Jared Smith(?) ran that one. Actually that was my first message board , not M/S. I think I found M/S when evenflow went down. I got my first ever bootleg from Jared, it was the 7/22/98 soundboard from Seattle. If you're out there Jared, thanks!

Anyone remember the time on M/S when there was supposedly going to be a 'secret club show' in Seattle, so I said "Fuck it, I'm going" only to find out when I got to Eugene that it was only the Riot Act promo vids they were shooting. I can't remember if it was Eric or Pax that got a hold of me, but whoever it was saved my ass from a lot of driving for nothing.

Hey, Ara. I've been the same. You still sporting the "fifth member of System of a Down" goatee? Like Adam, I got out of Pearl Jam with the release of Riot Act. The difference is, his getting out entailed shutting down a major site. My getting out pretty much consisted of me not replying to IMs about Pearl Jam anymore. I still get "information" thanks to two very good friends, so I still know what's going on in the world, but I don't actively seek anything out anymore. Hell I don't even plan to listen to the new album until it's on CD. Even now I've only heard "World Wide Suicide" a song which, if I may, is inexcusably bad.

It's kinda fun to pop in every year or so on these boards and see that the old crew is still around. It's like an old coat that always fits.

That was probably me that gave you the tip about the Riot Act promos. Sounds like something I'd do. :)
