Let's say Pearl Jam calls it quits within the next 5-10 years. Just hypothetically. How long after that would there be a big-enough, vibrant, interested fan base to keep sites like this one going?
For example, to all the 20-somethings, will we still want to post on a PJ message board in another 20 years? Or once the band stops making new material, does that mean that the message boards just die off? What do you all think?

There are Hendrix message boards, so with enough love for the jam hopefully there will be boards for PJ around for quite some time, even w/o new material.

Hendrix, though, seems like one of those artists with the kind of mass appeal and universal recognition that could keep that kind of interest alive forever. Pearl Jam has purposefully scaled back their notoriety, and it is really up to us dyed-in-the-wool hardcore fans to keep it going. I'm just wondering how long this hardcore fanbase will stay intact.

Yea, I see what your saying. But for us hardcore fans, they would be impossible to ever give up. I have faith we will keep it going. Must Spread The Jam Always!!!
