Is the song actually titled I Got Shit and it appears as I Got Id on Merkinball for editing purposes, or is it actually titled I Got Id and the band and fans refer to it as I Got Shit?

Epic didn't want the word 'shit' to appear on the single's packaging.
The word "ID" has a distinct meaning within the study of psychology. Freud explained that the ID is a part of the human personality, along with the EGO. The ID is that part of your personality containing all of your urges and desires, your impulses, the things which drive your very existence.
Thus, it is not merely a throwaway word used to substitute the use of a "cuss word" in the song title. If they wanted to do do that they could have just written "I Got It". In fact, understanding the meaning of the word ID gives substance to that title and has relevance to the meaning of the song.
Of course, the "shit" actually referred to in the lyrics seems to refer more to issues and demons gathered and carried from life experiences.
The bottom line is that if you look at Eddie's handwritten setlists, it almost always says "I Got Shit" and that is what he says in the song and therefore the majority of people tend to identify the song as such and ignore what is written on the Merkinball single.

very well stated. I tend to like I GOT ID better as a title, but I still rever to it as I GOT SHIT because that's how ed writes it. I have also taken to calling EWBtCiaST "Small Town" as appossed to "Elderly Woman" for the same reason.
