hey guys:

i've never posted before so i know some of the regulars are going to doubt my intentions, but i've been a long time reader and i need your help. i'm one of the host for a new show called cdusa on directv. we have had every one on our show from the red hot chilli peppers to kelly clarkson to small bands like people on planes, and we're only on our 14th episode out of 52. yes, i know, pretty mainstream music, but considering our target audience runs young (9-25 yrs old) we've also had some really great bands on. here's the thing...our show is all about live performances..i'm talking 5-6 bands per show, all live....imagine grammy performances with better camera work and direction every week. and directv has given us our own channel and we're on 24 hours a day 5 days a week on channel 101. we're not mtv, and we don't want to be mtv. the show is really all about the music.

anyways, the reason i'm writing is because i'm a huge pearl jam fan and i want them on the show. i mean it took 13 years for them to go back to snl but they did it for this record, so maybe they'll do a new show that's dedicated to live music. i want a live performance (3 songs or so..i'd give them the entire show to play if i could make that call) and interview with the band. i'm begging our show booker every second of the day, but she's claiming j records is being difficult and that they say the band is doing limited tv press. that makes complete sense. but here's what i think. the band probably doesn't even know we want them to play. if they finds out about us wanting them to do the show without label interference, they'll do it. we tape in la at tribune studios on sunset and van ness...they'll be here in july...it's a five hour commitment at the most, and i'll personally provide eddie with a stash of great red wine whille begging stone to duck walk during the perfomance. our studio audience alone is 300 or so...you cats who live in la can come... but i need help. do any of you have any direct contact with kelly curtis or the guys? if so, could you please pass along this e-mail or hit me up with some suggestions. help help!

thanks,

john wynn

lol...of course we have producers, but none of them are as into pj as i am...if the label says no, they don't care, they move on and book the next band. you have to remember we have 5-6 bands per show. so they don't have time to worry about a band that can't come on. anyways, pj hasn't been huge "record" selling band in a long time, and producers want bands that the "kids" know. i say, bring on pj and they kids well soon learn what they've been missing.[/quote]
