Let's face it: Crazy fans like us are too biased. I just let my co-worker, a casual fan, listen to the new album and got some very interesting reactions. She brought up things I had not thought about. Too much to write here, but share the new music with a casual PJ listener and discuss.

Yeah I let my girlfriend listen to the album and she really offered some good insights. :D

thats funny ... every casual listener that happens upon "tremor christ" because of me really loves the song

we should make a list of songs that casual listeners hear because of us and like

my list:

satan's bed
tremor christ
light years
ghost

Can you elaborate at all?

The CD I listened to yesterday was from a guy who is kind of a fan, but not a zealot like us....He knows a lot of deep cuts, and really likes No Code, but just doesn't follow PJ's every move....Anyway, he thought 'Pearl Jam' is thier best album since Yield; he really doesn't like RA and Binaural.

Oh just shut the fuck up!

j/k

I agree that some PJ junkies are waaaayyyyy too critical of the music, the production, blah-de-fuckin-blah. Can't we all just listen to and enjoy the music?

She liked it. Thought it was catchy, and will do well. But didn't think it sounded like Ten or Vs. like I do.

thing is, i'm like that for most any music

guess that's my fault for playing music and having worked in a studio for a short while tho, i realize i'm much more noticing/critical of smaller details... sometimes it annoys myself honestly, i wish i could ignore it more :)

I remember my friend had his ipod on and "Smile" came on. A casual fan I know said something along the lines of..."This is fucking awesome!"

There is a hint of Ten in the overall sound of the album.

if i compared the new album to older stuff id say its a mix of vs. and no code. these 2 happen to be my 2 favorite albums, too, so obviously i like the new one alot :D
