I threw my copy down in disgust when I saw that RS gave the Chilis the "Best Band of the Year" award. Yes, they put out a good double album, which isn't easy, but it doesn't compare with a kick ass single disc and revitalizing world tour. Jann Wenner sucks, yet I can't stop reading.

The new Chili Peppers album sounds like them trying to imitate themselves. I get a weird feeling listening to it because funky songs like "Hump da Bump" would have been ok on Freaky Styley, but at the age they're at (and after putting out an album or two of pop/rock songs) it just sounds like they are trying too hard to be "cool" again. I don't know what I expect from them though since I hate the radio-friendly pop/rock shit they put out now too. All I know for sure is that Anthony Keidis gives Matt Cameron a run for his money as far as horrible lyricists go.
