I've seen this talked about before but I couldn't find it. The email says they will both play full sets. Does this mean around 15 songs for Pearl Jam or will they play their own encore(s) as well? Obviously, they'll play a few with Petty but what before?

Who knows? When KISS and Aerosmith toured together a couple years back, they both said they would do full sets. KISS only did an hour and a half and Aerosmith did a little over that. Every KISS show I've been to besides that one were way over 2 hours so I would say they didn't do a full set. Never seen Aerosmith before or since so I have no way of gauging.

Do I think PJ will come out and do 2 1/2 hours followed by Tom Petty doing 2 1/2 hours. Not really. But, it would be cool if they did.

hopefully there are no 'technical difficulties' that prevent them playing together

I agree. The VFC shows were "full sets", but they were shorter than my dick. I think they want to make the entire show a reasonable length so the audience doesn't tire out.
I'm also predicting those shows will be short, yet packed with energy from start to finish. Whereas a regular PJ show will have plenty of time to jam, talk to the crowd, and pretty much play whatever they want.

Two hours each would be my expectation (and hope). I'm going to all 6 of these shows, so I'm hoping to see lots of interactions between bands and some unique stuff. Seems like a reasonable expectation for $600.

I consider a "full set" by PJ to be 24-27 songs.

i believe, technically speaking a "Set" includes all the songs prior to first encore..

so..17-19 songs yea?

well, bot the vfc shows i saw were around 2 1/2 hours...st. louis closer to 3 actually (if i am remembering right...). the # of songs may have been slightly shorter, but they had some good jams both nights.

as for these shows w/ petty, i'm guessing 1 1/2 to 2 hours for both. and probably RITFW or some other generic closer with everyone playing as the last song. hopefully some creative duets of some sort, which i would not be surprised to see either. either way the shows will kick ass, cause it is pj. that being said, i'm only going to summerfest show 2, cause i'm poor. seeing pj 3 times b4 that on their own will hopefully be enough for me...

Actually, I think he's right..... proabably be a group jam at the end of that. I can almost promise Little Sister will be played.

what was lame about it? have you seen some of the people who have been asking what "full set" means? everybody wants an exact time, and i think this is the most accurrate approximation.

dont be a jerk.

Better yet...will these "co-headlinging" shows be available as downloadable bootlegs? Hopefully so, but something tells me they may not be...

Thoughts?

exactly.

i'm going to both St. Paul shows myself, so i actually do care...

what i meant was, i would be pissed if it somehow was only 90 minutes, but i don't expect a second over 120 minutes either, at least for PJ's set. 100-120 minutes is a pretty good estimate of how long they'll play. sure i coulda said 110-120 minutes, but who knows, if they treat it as just one "set", then 100 minutes could easily happen, and then maybe some collaboration during the end of Tom's set.
