Has anyone here heard Vedder singing with the Doors at their Hall of Fame induction? If so, have you also heard Scott Stapp sing with them in 1999 on Storytellers?

I'm sure most people on this forum are sufficiently convinced that Stapp is a cheap Vedder knock-off but to me, it's never more apparent than when I compare the two of them doing "Light my fire." Hearing Stapp try (and fail) made me honestly believe that *I* could deliver a better vocal performance.

Every community has its age-old discussion topic and Stapp hating is definitely one of Pearl Jam's. I guess I just never fully realized how terrible Stapp was until I was able to compare them both singing the same song.

I didn't think Ed's performance with the Doors was that great. He screwed up a lot of the lyrics.

Some of them seemed like they were changed deliberately. When they cover Baba O'Reilly he usually changes "yeah yeah yeah etc." after "I don't need to be forgiven" to "no no no no etc."

Indeed, it was a great performance. One that would rival Jimmy Morrisson himself.

Right, it's hard enough for him to remember lyrics to the songs he's penned!
I loved the songs though, he did a great job!

I heard both performances, and saw the live version of scott stapp didn't those guys from the doors say he was like the best male singer of the time or something? i thought that was horrible, eddie did such a better job :D they both played "light my fire" right?

Yeah and Scott failed miserably when he tried to sing the last part "Try to set the night on fire."

Creed guy doesn't have the range that Eddie has. Hell, Ed doesn't have the range Eddie has.

Im a pretty big doors fan....
EV's performance, MADE ME A Pearl Jam fan.....
Did not like PJ before i heard those.....

EV DOES indeed out do Jim on Light My Fire.... (well, most of Jims versions....)

Scott Scrapp (as we call him on the doors board) BLEW CHUNCKS
The worst part about the doors Storytellers (where Scrapp sang) was that it got Ray Man all riled up to do a reunion tour..... with Ian Astbury as the lead singer.... Ian.... is a horrible choice voice wise for doors songs... AND became a joke of a rock star doing Morrison poses and jestures on stage....

Also lead to the lawsuit between doors members.... that got pretty ugly.

John Densmore stood up for something that was right, and a worthy cause in that one..... (And also appears with EdVed on the deadman walking concert DVD :P)
