This is a thread to talk about your rituals or preparations for an upcoming show or album. Before a new album is released, I always spend the day before listening to each prior one in order from the beginning. It's getting to be a long affair, but I have the whole day at work so I'm good for another album or two before I can't fit them into the day.
What are your little rituals?

Lately I've been listening to a lot of my bootlegs. Yesterday I listened to some of the Toledo '04 show and then some of the Amsterdam show from 2/12/92. It's more of a prep to see them live than as a prep for the new album. I pretty much do something different for every new release.

I listen to tons of bootlegs in the weeks leading up to when I will see them. Then usually the week or so before I'll stop, and will not listen to any pj. I listen to a good boot on the way to the show, just to get myself ready.

Man, you're like the people in the trading forum looking for a video of a show the day after.

Several years ago, a friend of mine landed this great job, and the rest of us were making fun of him with our more and more elaborate dream jobs. One guy said, "I just got a job with Sealy. I lie on their mattresses and jerk off and see which is the most comfortable to fall asleep on."
It was one of those "lock 'er up" moments in real life.

I've been listening to bootlegs non-stop for a few weeks now. This weekend I'll probably just lay down for a few hours and listen to some albums. Hopefully I will then have the album on Monday and rock out after class, then listen to it on headphones, then try to convince my room mate how awesome it is by pumping the volume up to 11 until about 2:30 in the morning when he calls the RAs and asks for a room transfer...you know, normal stuff.
Also, I've got a three hour drive to Albany coming up, I'm trying to decide what to listen to on the way out there. I'll bring all the albums, and then maybe a couple of discs with non-album tracks if we get in the mood? Tough decisions.
And no, I will not be pulling a PD (or pulling anything) while I meditate and listen to the old CDs this weekend.

I do the every album in order thing. This works out well too because I have a large project due May 3rd so Monday I'll be working on it all day as I listen to Pearl Jam chronologically

I've just been listening to a lot of KISS, lately. I've only heard 3 songs from the new album, and I'm pumped to listen to it as soon as I get I get it out of the mailbox.
And I'm almost as excited to be getting the bonus disc.

the one thing that sucks about the leak is that opening day does lose some of its magic.
I don't have much of a pregame ritual either way. But i always go for a walk with headphones for my first listen. I have trouble sitting still and listening to music unless I'm in the car.
