This probably has been done before, but...

Which album would be your favorite IF you could substitute one b-side (from that era) for one track on the record?

For me, No Code if Fallen = Off He Goes. It's a wonderful record as it is, but OHG provides too much of a lull between after the already mid-tempo Smile. Fallen (Falling Down) would offer the same kind of transition into Habit, but without putting me to sleep. Plus it adds something catchy to an album that's difficult enough...

off he goes is my second favorite song ever... and everyone hates it

if fatal and otherside were on binaural, replacing evacuation and thin air, then it likely would be very high on my list, possibly before no code for # 2

I actually love the song, just don't care for Jack's version of it. Not to start the drummer debate, but Jack is amazing when he is interested in the song. When he is bored, I am bored. Matt, a la LO2L, gives it a solid backbeat and pushes the bridge like it needs.

I nearly burst into tears when I discovered "Fallen" ("Fallin' Down") was excluded from Lost Dogs... then to included a picture of tape boxes and seeing "Fallen" amongst them....

Yeah, I assume they're the same song. But Tremor Christ used to be called Big Wave, and now we have Big Wave, so who knows?

Otherside was penned during binaural, but they didn't actually record it until RA,...

Now about this song Falling,...

Is there any chance someone has a copy of it?

I've seen some very positive reviews and if alot of people think it's better than Off He Goes I need to listen to it,...

someone want to E mail me a copy?

Definitley sad for god's dice. But that won't make binaural my favorite.

Well that's what a couple of my old bootlegs read, and we know how accurate those are...

Falling Down (Never heard that this is also called "Fallen") was played at Red Rocks in '95. A decent audience recording exists.

To answer the original question:

Don't think substituting one song would change my album favorite, hence, it would stay Vitalogy. However, by far the easiest album to improve with the replacements of songs with b-sides is Binaural.

Sad and Fatal should replace Thin Air and Evacuation, with the tracklist as follows:

1) Breakerfall
2) Gods' Dice
3) Insignificance
4) Sad
5) Nothing as it Seems
6) Fatal
7) Grievance
8) Light Years
9) Of the Girl
10) Rival
11) Sleight of Hand
12) Soon Forget
13) Parting Ways

Mike used the music to Falling down in the Rockford's song "Distress." I guess that's why PJ never released it. That live version is sick, though.
