Post subject: how long did they spend recording previous albums?

Does anyone know? Not how long between records but how long they actually spent in the studio hammering out songs

They've recorded Ten in five days...
And they never took more than a couple of months to record any of their albums.
I guess they're not inspired right now or they really want the forthcoming album to be a killer one... Hopefully my second thought is the right one

Ten getting recorded quick makes sense. There was an urgency about that album--it feels like they had to get these songs out or they would explode. But since then (and especially since No Code) I feel like they released the albums before they were really ready.
I wish they had played the songs on the tour just so they could work them out live, but if they go right back to recording fresh from an awesome tour I guess that is the next best thing

True, I didn't even read the post, I just assumed that was what he was talking about.
Anyway, besides that, who in the fuck would possibly know the answer to this question anyway?
The info is out there, just not nicely gathered in one place for our use.
As someone said earlier, Ten was recorded in five days. Yes, and no. I'm sure that because they were a new band, they didn't have the luxury of working in a studio, and had to work out the songs in rehersal on their own before entering to record. All they did in the studio in 1991 was record, and then the producer mixed and mastered. On the later albums, there is info known about approximately when the process was started and finished. Vs and Vitalogy (esp Vitalogy) were recorded here and there a couple songs at a time while they were on constant tour for those years.
The recording format they employ now didn't really start until Yield. Even No Code was recorded all over the place over the course of many months, nearly a year if I remember right.

Here's a link to part of an old site that would definitely help you get a better answer. Does anyone know if/where this site is currently hosted in English? There used to be a whole site...now I can only find parts of it at archive.org, and this Italiano version (second link). It is not %100 percent accurate, Im sure, but it's a good read and you can likely get a nice estimate of the amount of time each record took to write/record.

I didn't think that info would even be talked about or released by the band, unless of course it was in some kind of interview with one of the band members. I do remember reading something about recording songs when they were constantly on tour in the early nineties. I wouldn't have thought they actually sat down in the studio up until Yield.
