Ok...so like many of you I have kinda insinuated the the last two PJ records have been lackluster in comparison to the new one. I looooove the new one, but I listened to RAct lifting last night and just listened to Binaural on a ride to Erie today....the new one is better, tighter and heavier than both. BUT....those are good records for what they are. I actually love Binaural as a moodsetter and when I'm in the mood to be thoughtful and introspective and RA has some good songs, most notably Save You. I dont know about the rest of you, but from now on when I talk about how good 'Pearl Jam' the record is, I am going to refrain from speaking of the last two records as if they suck.

i dont think either of them are even close to bad, some of my favorite pj songs come off of binaural, and riot act is full of good songs, it just has some bad ones too, i think the first 8 songs are good, and 1/2 full and all or none are both really good songs, green disease is also decent

I almost always appreciate a PJ album more after the next one comes out

i've always been more of a supporter of binaural and riot act than many here seem to be. that being said, the new one makes me like them less.

its pretty low on my list, but i can see why it would be some peoples favorite. i dont think i could ever understand "riot act" being someones favorite record, unless that album introduced them to the band, but even thats a stretch

Go back to complaining about "Pearl Jam" packaging. Amazing.

Are Binaural and RA considered "old" PJ albums now? I'd say that Yield is.

binaural would be up there if it wasnt for its extremely shaky start, breakerfall is alright but i dont like gods dice or evacuation, and fatal should be on the album

Sometimes if you read enough of the shit on this forum you start to believe it. I never had a problem with Binaural (except the sound being a bit murky) and then I read the posts here and started to believe that I really didn't like it much.

In contrast to that, I always thought that I didn't like Yield all that much (mostly because I don't like Lowlight and Pilate) but then people have been saying that Yield is their last "great" album, and I starting thinking...'hey, maybe I really do love Yield'.

So now, i say f*ck it! I don't care what the common RM opinion is. I'm super excited to hear the new album this week! From the few songs I've heard it's going to be great!

See you in Albany!

Binaural def has 4 of my fave all time PJ songs:

Of The Girl
Sleight of Hand
Grievance
Insignificance

and off Riot Act, maybe not all time faves, but amazing songs nonetheless:

All or None
Save You

but other than that, the rest i can usually take it or leave it. some other decent songs, some i don't like at all, but those are the songs that stick out for me most out of the last 2 records.

i made a compilation of Binaural/Riot act one time that i liked a lot, i should try and find my tracklist

You need to add Parting Ways to that list. I like the rest of the songs you have.
:D

i'll refer to them as the two best pj albums (well maybe no code could fit in there).

never been a big fan of Light Years sorry. lyrics are nice, but melodically & musically... *yawn*

as for Parting Ways, i dig it, but have always felt the song needed another verse
