BOOTLEGS FOR '06 TOUR- FLAC AND MP305.06.06
All bootlegs from the 2006 Pearl Jam tour will be available in both MP3 and FLAC formats. Price for MP3s will remain at $9.99 and the price for FLAC will be $14.99. Besides audio, all downloads will still include photographs from the show as well as set list and cover artwork.
In order to facilitate the increased audio quality and choices for fans, the shows will typically be available for download the evening following the performance. In some rare circumstances, it may not be until 2 days after the show.
Please visit bootlegs.pearljam.com to shop for shows from the 2005 tour as well as the first show from the Vault series (More to come!). Soon the first shows of the first leg of 2006 will be loaded into the system. At that point you can pre-buy any show you like and set the software to "Automatically download when available".
so the incessant arguing/complaining/opining/emailing the ten club worked out. it's good to see them responding to pressure.

Considering I've never had a strong preference about this whole matter it looks I'll have to pick a side now. I'll definitely be downloading the two shows I'm seeing on this tour, and that's probably it. Personally, I don't believe in paying to download music in general, it's just not something I'm a fan of. If I'm paying money, I want the physical product but I will make an exception here. Normally if I'm downloading a show it's not an issue as I just take whatever is available.
Also, I already know the pro's and con's of each so I don't need a lecture here, just debating on whether it'll be worth the extra $5 and more downloading time for the FLAC. I guess I'll wait and see how it goes when these start next week.

Great news. I'll be the first to send Basecamp and Pearl Jam thank you letters. While I wish this would have happened for the 2005 tour, better late than never. It's nice to know that our letters and emails didn't fall on deaf ears and their efforts should be recognized.

Cool. This is pretty much what Metallica offers on Livemetallica.com except they don't include nearly the same amout of pictures and they only charge $12.95 for FLAC. I still wish they'd ALSO offer the Silvers for say $16.95 for people that would rather have those but as usual 10C listened and responded.

I don't. I know flac is lossless, but once you have the flac files what do you do with them? can i just burn them on a cd like i can with mp3's or do i have to download a program to manipulate them somehow. I'm just wondering since it seems like so many people are demanding flac.

I just use winamp for all my flac files. You download the necessary flac codec (just google flac and it'll come right up) and then you can play the files and burn them in winamp, just like you do with mp3's. Others might have a different method but this has always worked fine for me.

Wish Radiohead would get into this game.
Metallica charges less for something than PJ?
I think they now have to lower the price on general principle. How much do they charge for mp3's?

Yeah, but if you know a couple of people going to a certain show, you can each throw in a few bucks for the download and some blank CD's...I'm going with a group of six people to Boston 1, so that's like $2.50 a piece. Not too shabby.

Either that or just download the FLAC plugin for Nero and you can just drag and drop the files like you would for a .wav or mp3. Or failing that just decode from FLAC to .wav using FLAC Frontend and then burn. It's really very simple.
