I'm probably the only one on the board who can give an objective opinion on this,
The main problem is simple, you're too into it. Same with Tool fans, you obsess too much about meaningless things and fights break out. Although you're still better than Tool fans.
And the funny thing is it doesn't even effect anyone else, you never seen random Pearl Jam fans running around the net telling people they're inferior because they don't listen to random grunge. So you guys are only ever hurting yourselves with all the in-fighting.

1. People who post on Pearl Jam message boards on the internet that don't even like Pearl Jam.
2. People who are "in the know" and post on Pearl Jam message boards on the internet when they don't really like Pearl Jam that much, and hold it over other peoples heads.
3. People who post on message boards and act like they are better than people because they think other Pearl Jam fans are annoying.
Other than that, I have no particular qualms with Pearl Jam fans overall. I've had the chance to talk to a lot of great people through this band, online and in person.
When someone calls a fan on one of these messageboards a "n00b" just because they don't live on the internet and post 100 times a day. That so-called "n00b" may have bought MLB's Apple in 1990 and saw PJ when the board junkie was still in grade school or diapers.

but seriously...
i think this on all message boards, friend, for whatever it is you decide to message about.

People who take it too seriously definitely get on my last nerve. It's the same people that whine, whine, whine when Dave Matthews doesn't do his little dance the same way at one show that he does at the other 100,000 shows. Or the ones who would rather be unemployed than miss another <fill-in name of band> concert. The ones who tell you that everything that is not their favorite band sucks, period, and are not open to discussion about it.
Music is an artform; bands and songs should be appreciated in the same way that there are many dogs playing poker paintings out there. They have their diversity, that's the most important thing. My only complaint is that although there is a variety, there is a lot of crap too.
I would like to give a big round of applause to jeffery on his initiation to one of the best communities on the internet. Unfortunately, we do not have a Mr. Furley to keep an eye on things. (RIP)

Things that bother me on the RM board:
-People who have been here for a long time/have a lot of posts and act as if their opinion counts more than everyone elses.
-People who post things (especially when they start a thread) just to get a reaction.
-People who obviously don't use the search tool and create the same thread over and over again.
-New people who flock to the board to get what they want and then you never heard from them again (like when the songs were leaked).
-People who don't provide any explanation for what they say, especially when what they say is negetive against another person or the band (such as: "The new songs suck!" or "You are obviously not a real fan if you think that."
Pearl Jam fans in general:
-The non die-hards don't appreciate anything after Vitalogy.
-They are all bitter (like me) and don't like anyone who doesn't appreciate the band's entire catalogue.
-They get pissed when the band tries to promote new material ("I hope PJ doesn't sell out and make a video")
-They are impatient...no one can wait for the actual release date
-They have no sense of humor (see response to several of the April Fools jokes)
I'll come up with more, I'm sure

I wasn't here in 2003... but this is how I imagine it would be.

I'll take that as a complement.

Why did you assume I was talking about you? Those were not directed at you.

I just can't stand the ones that analyze everything about the band to the point of absurdity.
It completely sucks the fun out of the whole thing.
