Yes, I did a search. Yes, I consulted the new site. No, I don't know if this was addressed elsewhere, but after a lot of searching, I couldn't find these specifics posted. Maybe the great search master Cal could point this in the right direction if it is elsewhere.
I just got my 10c memebership renewal letter. Strange to see new terms in it:

In the past we have done our best ot provie each member with acess to tickets and tour info. We expect to provide you with the same privilege in the future, if, and when Pearl Jam plays in your neck of the woods, but please undersand if we are unable to guarantee this service.
When did the 45 (or possible lack therof) become a "holiday gift"? I also don't think the Fan Club ticket situation has been referred to in the above mentioned terms before, so bluntly.

nor do I.

What is it you don't get? We may go from getting a 7" to something else, like a button set with pictures of Pearl Jam members on it. This concerns me that it doesn't say "record" or "single" or "45".

I think they've been calling it a holiday gift for a while now but I'm not sure. I don't care too much. I'm in it for the tickets.

I understand; it used to say "Christmas Single," right? I have my old renewal letters at home, but I'm pretty sure that's what they used to say. Just another salvo in the War On Christmas
Or maybe they really will use the "Well, it's close to Easter" excuse at some point.

I imagine that's been put there because of the Australian situation, where there is no 10c allocation for any additional shows beyond the 1st round of announcements.

It's a good thing I'm not in it for the tickets.
And I think it's said "gift" for a couple of years, I think.
He didn't actually print the entire e-mail

Well I just wish everything said the same thing. From the Fan Club part of the website:
Quote:
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS Two beautiful copies of Deep Magazine filled with great photos and cool content about your favorite band.
Our promise to do our darndest to get you the absolute BEST tickets in the house to Pearl Jam shows around the world.
Access to Ten Club members-only merchandise like limited edition silk-screened posters from Pearl Jam tours.
A holiday 45 RPM vinyl single with songs not found anywhere else
It goes back to the long winded, and bitter, discussion of the slow degradation of benefits as outlined. A lot of those issues have been resolved with changes to the wording of the "benefits". They now no longer guarantee club members tickets to shows and have become very upfront about it in the renewel later, but remain somewhat vague on the website.
From site:
Quote:
Since the beginning of the Ten Club, Pearl Jam has been dedicated to making sure that fans get priority seating whenever possible. Sometimes, there are circumstances beyond our control that limit our ability to do this. But we go to bat for you...and most of the time, we find a way.

I don't remember the "holiday gift" part, but I do remember twoheadedboy being angry with the newsletter part because there were not 2 newsletters one year and then the loss of guaranteed tickets for fan club members, I think that was what brought that discussion to a head.

I see bad things coming as far as getting tickets from 10 club in the future. The sad thing is there's probably nothing they can do about it. It looks like ticketmaster and the venues are slowly cutting them off year by year.
It might take some big bands like PJ and Dave Mathews standing up to make a difference. I dont think they'll fight that battle again ( and dont blame them), I also dont think "greedy" Dave will rock the boat either.
So it might come down to us as consumers........ and dont hold your breath there either.
So the convenience charge will keep going up, availability for good seats will keep going down, and you'll have to be in the upper tax bracket just to see the band. Yeah, I think Rock and Roll is dead.... and it wasnt the shitty rap/rock bands that killed it, or any other musician for that matter.
I think he is implying that you don't receive the record during the "the holidays."
I think....
I don't think sullen is complaining about it "the holidays", it's about the word "gift" instead of single or anything to imply that it will in fact be a record.
I found a welcome letter from 2003 which says

As you can see they have been using the term 'gift' for awhile, but we are still getting vinyl singles. It would be a shame if they were to ever change that. Getting this every year is half my reason for being in the club.
I am not complaining, it just struck me as odd that they say gift here but single elsewhere else. I would be terribly disappointed as well if it was something else. Looks like this has run its course. Feel free to lock it up.
