The group was known (and actually toured) for a time as Mookie Blaylock, after the basketball player, but concerns about trademark issues necessitated a change after the group was signed to Epic Records. The band eventually settled on Pearl Jam as their new name.
explain!

No it's true...it's in I Corinthians and reinterated somewhere in Psalms
I think Psalms 34:15-16 goes something like,
"Oh Lord, how lovely art thy divine providence, that thou provideth us with the ball and hoops, the three point line--thou givest us instructions, that we may assist and block the shots of our foes.
Thy game is perfect, her breasts like plump melons in harvest season, and her pashoonie like that of the forbidden Assyrian woman."

At the heart of this thread is the unasked question: how boring and lazy is it to sit on your ass and watch other people play a sport...any sport?

It's gotten alot better in the last couple of years. Now that the Spurs are out, and the Pistons are getting there, the NBA is moving in the right direction.
