If you like those songs, get Ten and Vs.... maybe follow up with Yield.
The new one is pretty accessible too, though.
Eh it's not good to start off with Ten or Vs. because they're too accessible.. Yield has hints of weirdness like Push Me, Pull Me... Someone is more likely to understand No Code or Binaural after they hear Yield or the new album than if they start with Ten or Vs.

Don't listen to Frank
Get Ten next. After that I'd play around with the studio records, buying the ones you like the songs from on RVM. The new record (which is not represented) is quite excellent. After a few of those you could get a boot or 2. There are a number of excellent ones from the 06 tour.

Don't listen to Stip. He's biased.

Yes, but his favourite songs (so far) are from the Ten/Vs. era. Make much more sense to go after those albums first, no?

ok, so he's gonna be another 'Ten' fan & not a PJ fan... too bad.

Ten is what got most of us started, right? And we're not all Ten fans, right?

sooo...wouldn't it make sense to buy the albums in order they were released? that's the way i heard them and i'm still here
that being said, i'd go with vs or the self titled as your next purchase. those two albums have the most RAWK songs per square inch than any other pj studio album

I grudgingly respect your opinion on this issue, but I think you would have to admit that someone in his situation should be exposed to Ten early. I mean, come on....I dont like to listen to the Beatles very much, but I understand what they meant to pop music and culture....Ten is one of the very special records of the past 20 years, whether you 'like' it or not.
Here is my suggestion to a new comer (acquire roughly in this order)....
1. RVM
2. Ten
3. Avacado
4. A few good '03 Boots (State College/Benaroya on CD and MSG on DVD)
5. Yield
6. Vs./ Vitalogy
7. No Code
8. Lost Dogs
9. Earlier Boots
This is not my personal ranking by any stretch.....I just think absorbing their music in this order would incrementally 'prepare' someone for the next one.
