I agree that the drums come alive more on the Yield songs with Matt. At least on DTE, which is where I notice it the most. And the way Matt drums on GTF is more appropriate for how they play it |

I guess it's just a matter of preference, I think Jack's beats on both Do the Evolution and Given to Fly enhance those songs so much more than what Matt plays. He gives DTE has this incredible wiry tension, never quite breaking into full slamming rock-out mode, and Given to Fly lost its undulating soft tumble with Matt behind the kit. |

I agree, Given to fly lost its elegance with Matt drumming. Now it's more a "look how we're hitting as hard as we can on this song to make you all jump up and down". It's still the song I love most in the world, mind. But I'll never put on a live version if I want to be reminded or show someone how beautiful this song is. |

I love that Berlin show. never understood why Cameron approaches the song the way he does. He has the talent...put a fucking cowbell and play it the way it was written. That song deserves that. Its just such a specific percussion piece that is just as part of the song as the guitar lines. |

Thank you...such as the pre-'09 In My Tree drum abominations. I also can't explain why he sounds so absolutely shitty on Last Exit, but he does...so so frustrating. Though he sounded ok in '98 for some reason? |

I'm guessing it was less thought, more feel, which suits the Irons-era music much better. Live on Two Legs sounds like a different drummer on many of the songs. |

Jack Irons played it much groovier, and semmed to hit a harder and more deliberate, which really suited the song well. the Melbourne '95 version of an example of how important the drums are to that particular song, and MC just does not fucking get it. There's absolutely no life in the intro, which kind of sets him behind once Stone comes in with that killer riff, and he just never catches up. I hope they figure it out; I'd like to see them play that shit live someday, with the proper tempo and drum technique included. |

I was at Radiohead last night, shooting the shit with one of my friends while waiting in line, and I mentioned Jack Irons. 3 different people came up to me immediately and were like "Jack Irons is awesome!" and stuff like that. |

people in here hates matt cameron so much it's ridiculous. he isn't that bad. i mean i like jack irons too, he was in red hot chili peppers after all but really, the amount of hate matt got here is too much. they could have asked dave krusen to comeback in '98. it could have been someone much more worse than matt. and he is in this band for what, 14 years? still talking about how much he suck is rude to him. |
