This will probably be deleted in about 5 seconds, but does anyone know what this is about?

I saw some posts here previously about Stone saying something at Storytellers about Ed not showing them "better man" prior to "the third album".

Here is what Billboard says about it:

During a brief Q&A session with fans, guitarist Stone Gossard ribbed Vedder for not playing the rest of the band his "Better Man" demo until it was time to make the third Pearl Jam album. "Just think of the other songs he has hidden away," he said.

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/..._id=1002612367

That being said, Betterman was first played 5.13.93 and Vs. was released 10.19.93.

So that being said, while Vs. was not out yet, it's not improbable that they were done recording Vs., were not considering new songs but deciding what songs were going to be on the album, fighting Ticketmaster, etc.

If that is the case then Ed did wait until it was time to make the 3rd album to introduce it.

I mean if you think about it, if they liked the song so much and if Stone is a dirty liar, then why wasn't it on Vs.?

Since we don't know the exact quote of Stone, we won't know exactly if he is "caught in a web of lies."

I believe, however, he is just saying that by the time they got to deal with Betterman, the earliest they could record it was for Vitalogy. After all, you admit the that the first live recording is much different than the studio version.

So I don't know if Stone is a liar but I don't believe that is his intention.

I would love to hear this first version of Betterdude. I think I'll check it out.

i think you hear the first version in that atlanta show from 94, the radio one. it basically just had an extra chorous after verse one. this phenomoena was mentioned in the 10 year spin article, that ed and other might have sabotaged the betterman recording

kind of like the u2 song somtimes you cant make it on your own. not to tangent, but this amature producer says that song is way better if you take out the firt chorous. it would flow much better, and actually mirror betterman in that regard. not comparing the 2, but since im on the tangent, does anyone else think the u2 song would be better if they hacked the first one.
