Question:

Any ideas on the meaning of the set of batwings on stage with PJ. They've been on stage at every show for years. Although I have not seen PJ yet this year (not til July), I'm assuming they're still sportin' em?

Maybe they're not even batwings, but more like dragon wings or something?

They are bat wings. I'm pretty sure they were given to them by The Frogs. I don't know what they symbolize.

when i saw them during the first leg of this tour, the batwings were mysteriously absent from the stage. i was never sure what they symbolized, but now i'm even more curious.

I was at a good angle and close to where they usually are at DC and didn't see them.

I didn't see them at any of the shows I was at. I wonder if something happened to them?

they also weren't on the Canadian tour last year.

i heard that batman sued, and won. just cuz he is fucking batman. they are now in his cave next to the giant penny and the big t-rex.

i think they got them in 94...i was just reading about this on FiveHorizons (well now TFT)....

notes: Ed joins The Frogs during their set: they start 'Jeremy' and Ed is lowered by a rope or cable onto the stage like he's flying, wearing the gold bat wings. I think Boom wore them last halloween and had them ripped off his back as he ran from the cops after egging the whitehouse.

Biography of The Frogs...

Thanks to their 1989 pseudo-gay album It's Only Right and Natural, the Frogs became a hip name to drop as fans like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins ascended to superstardom in the 1990s.

... Bassist Jay Tiller (also of Couch Flambeau) was added in 1983, the same year Jimmy debuted his trademark stage gimmick -- a pair of six-foot bat wings.

Batwings were present in Ottawa and Montreal last year too. Right in front of Matt's drums.

Didn't see them in Camden this year.
