Been lurking around for awhile, just now decided to finally register and post.
Kinda disappointed that Pearl Jam didn't schedule anything close around St. Louis (didn't have the opportunity to drive to Chicago).
But I did just learn that there is a PJ tribute band called Alive that will be coming to Pop's in Sauget (across the river) this Saturday.
Now I'm not one of those types of people who feel tribute bands are sacreligious, I just want to be able to hear some PJ songs in a live setting. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever seen this Alive band and if they are a decent PJ tribute to check out.
My initial impression would be since Pop's is a pretty decent sized place that books a lot of national acts, I would figure since Alive is booked to play there, then there's gotta be something worth hearing. Feedback/opinions appreciated!!!!

welcome aboard... though I don't know anything about this tribute band you speak of.

I personally don't know about the band Alive, but I can tell you that anyone, and I mean ANYONE can play at Pop's if they want to, no matter how good or bad you are(or whether you're a national touring act or a local one).
That said I'm hoping PJ makes time for us folk near STL, cause while I had a blast going to the Chicago shows(esp. night 2) I'd love to see them around here again.

welcome to the board
ALIVE has a thread lurking around here somewhere. Do a search for it if you want to see what other people think.

I am from Granite City which is ten minutes from Pops and st. louis so I feel ya. I wanted to make it to a concert in St. Louis but no such luck. The cover band alive is okay but the best is Even Flow which is awsome and can be found here: http://www.evenflowrocks.com
I plan on catching the tribute band alive at pops for the sake of it though. I have some friends who work security there as I work in the night club business myself.

Yeah, I know that Pop's books both good and bad local bands. I've seen enough of each there. I would just think that if they are making the effort in bringing in a tribute band from out-of-town, it's going to be a decent one.

Yea, definitly go to see Evenflow when they come again, I went back in January and it was great, they plan on coming back here in the winter I believe
Yeah, I saw them at Pop's back in January too. I think their singer has Eddie's mannerisms down pretty good, but I wasn't very impressed with their drummer. He just looked too much like an outdated hair metal guy and played some of the songs too fast, too chunky, and too heavy.
I'll be interested to see on Saturday how Alive compares to what I remember from the Evenflow show. Are you going to Saturday's show too, or are you just going to wait for Evenflow to return?
