I'd like to invite everyone to a benefit concert I am producing called 'Hard To Imagine'. The event takes place in Park Slope, Brooklyn on June 8th, during Brooklyn's Gay Pride Week. All proceeds will go to Fine By Me, a non-profit, grass roots organization dedicated to fighting homophobia - http://www.finebyme.org.

My band will play 16 Pearl Jam covers, backed by a full choir. Many of the vocal arrangements are original, as well as some of the musical adaptations (see set list below).

Brooklyn Brewery is sponsoring the show, along with several other local businesses. We're offering a $15 All-You-Can Drink ticket, a bake sale, and a raffle. We're hoping to sell 350 tickets. If you bring a ticket stub from any Pearl Jam show you'll get $5 off the $20 door.

If you can't attend but would like to make a donation in the form of a ticket, you can purchase tickets at http://www.brooklynlyceum.com.

Thanks so much for your consideration,
M

'Hard To Imagine' set list:
Hard to Imagine
Porch
Not For You
Elderly Woman...
Arc
LBC
Smile
Sometimes
Angel
Nothing Man
Evolution
Thin Air
Can't Keep
Indifference
Jeremy
Release

p.s. PJ and the organization has been invited through a network of friends. I know it's a long shot that any of them will come, but it can't hurt to ask. Besides, they finish on June 3rd, just a few miles away...

This sounds like it's going to be an excellent event, i like the fact you haven't gone for the obvious song choices, too. Angel, Arc, Can't Keep - very nice :)

Is it possible you could record the whole performance, it would be hard for me to get there, being situated in England and all.

I'd be happy to make a donation.

i will absolutely send you a cd. thanks for your interest, and support.

pm me your mailing address, and i'll send it to you when it's ready.

as for making a donation, that'd be great. you can do so in the form of a ticket purchase at http://www.brooklynlyceum.com, or just make a direct donation to Fine By Me at http://www.finebyme.org.

p.s. TO ALL: i am not sellling the cd (for obvious reasons) but i will gladly trade it with anyone, or send it along just for the cost of mailing, if need be.
:D

in a sense. it's specifically about getting the support of a large, untapped, silent majority: the rest of us 'straight' people who aren't militant gay rights activists but are just "fine" with others living alternative lifestyles.

so often the gays rights issue gets polarized into one of two camps, and the loudest, most aggresive voices, and often the most condemning, get heard.

in this case, we're raising money for a t-shirt campaign for Fine By Me. the t-shirt simply says "gay? fine by me". any discourse after that is up to the individual.

it's a "quiet" statement, if you will.

lol, thanks cb.

if you buy the ticket in advance it's $15.
at the door it's $20, but if you show your pj ticket stub at the door it'll only cost you $15 to get in.
no matter which ticket you buy, it's all you can drink.
