Get Right
I want for to lay down, I'm waiting 'till sundown I'm searching the haystacks, water is sunshine, Wait for the moment The moment between us, the fire is made now, Harder to touch
I wanted to get right I wanted to get right I wanted to get right with you
Bakers dozen parades, Stand and debate Out single file, nine in a row, swear if you must Keeping your boots on, float with the now, Hot to the touch Concrete underground, cast out everyday, The dregs of society Underbelly, beside me, rejoice and follow thee
I wanted to get right I wanted to get right I wanted to get right With it, with you

Pearl Jam’s best drummer is an open question. Pearl Jam’s worst lyiricst is not. Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you…Matt Cameron, and the train wreck that is the lyrics to get right
Eddie has his clunky moments but by and large he is a first rate lyricist. There are quite a few songs post No Code that have excellent music that suffer in my eyes because Ed didn’t’ write the lyrics (No Way, Lowlight, Thin Air and NAIS really jump out at me. I like the lyrics to All those Yesterdays and Rival and God’s Dice bores me no matter what). But in most of those cases the lyrics are passable enough that it doesn’t ruin the song. That’s not the case with Get Right. Musically I think the song works really well. It’s not a masterpiece, but it is a nice fun, crunchy number. A nice strong, deep main riff, some nice work by Mike, a fairly infectious chorus, and even some handclapping. What's not to enjoy? Not a song to change the world, but still fun and it interjects some much needed light into an otherwise dark record. Musically I’d give the song a 3.5
But Matt…what the fuck is going on with those lyrics. They completely tank the song for me. I’ve got nothing to say about them except they really really suck. And that they ruin the song. I’d guess the song is about smoking pot, but only because of the picture in the liner notes and the shirt.
Two stars for get right

one of the many songs I haven't warmed to from Riot Act.

It was a request. You gotta take the good with the bad.

The music is fun, like Stip said. No materpiece. Honestly, when I think of this song it is the music and the feel from the music. I have never thought about the lyrics coz they suck. What is it about? Hand clapping throughout would have been stronger than the lyrics.
3 for music but 1 for lyrics.

I'll pretty much echo everyone else's sentiments, it's a fun song but it's definitely nothing to write home about. I'm usually a big proponent of enjoying songs with good music even if they have crappy lyrics, but Stip's right, the lyrics are really bad and the music isn't good enough to really carry the song. I would give it 2.5, but I'll settle for 2.

Yeah, definately not a good song. I would have figured that years spent with Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder would have helped him out a bit...but this song does nothing for me and one of the few Pearl Jam songs I'd rather my friends not hear...

Musically this is a really good one. Rock! So if you just ignore the lyrics (as some people anyway do constantly) it's a great song to
I love dada poetry and the Surrealist's approach to lyrics and Get Right kind of reminds me of some absurd poems of that school of thought. Having said that, i still don't think these lyrics are good though. There seems to be no interesting play with words, meanings, sounds, sense/nonsense etc. They appear to be random glimpses of whats going on in the author's mind - images, framents of thoughts and ideas, memories. That would be ok, if they were striking, powerful or thought-provoking - but they aren't. At least not to me.
