I'm with thodoks. My disdain for the second half of Riot Act is well documented, but at least songs like Help, Help is trying to be interesting. And I'm not an anti-Matt guy, as a I really like Cropduster among others. This is just... boring. It sounds like something I have heard a million times before, and a million times since. Along with Ghost and Green Disease, it's a trio of Pearl Jam at their worst.
Replace Green Disease with Cropduster and we agree.
But... But... I really like Cropduster.
(and i think Green Disease falls under that catagory that jorge was mentioning about really bad lyrics)
I propose that all songs "should have been" great songs. Seriously--what's the deal with all these bands that write bad songs? Why would anyone do that?

In retrospect, it's probably more deserving than one star. But it really grates on me. The first fifteen or twenty seconds kill any desire I have to invest the next two-plus minutes of my life hoping the song eventually redeems itself. It just doesn't interest me sonically, melodically, or lyrically.
It's fine that others like it. It just does nothing for me.
