Have always wished that this song had something to do with Vedder's relationship with Dave Abbruzzese...

When I first heard "Off he Goes", I pretty much didn't like it. I felt too Neil Youngish. ( I do love Neil however ).

About a year later in concert they played it. That changed everything. It clicked. I love the studio version, but Live, Ed sings with so much more emotion. It incredible. A couple of years later in Seattle, when they dedicated it to one of the young men killed at Rockskilde, I pretty much wept. It was overwhelming to hear Ed's voice break up a little while he sung........everyone kinda fell back down to reality for those 5 or so minutes.

i usually like the live versions of songs better but i love the studio version of this song, i hate the benaroya version of this-too much electric guitar

this song might be autobiographical, look at the lyrics, at the time eddie was always mad "his face seemed pulled and tense", the rest seems to click with this idea to

It is a beautiful song, and I do love the lyrics. There was a time I played it everyday. I just think it's a little too long for a slow song that doesn't ever really build musically -- even though I love the outro on the studio version.

Live on Two Legs version. BEst damn version of the song. When eddie effortlessly says "And there he goes" during the second chorus. I don't know its one of those awesome little things in songs where i get my jollys

It is a beautiful tune; it may also qualify as the most narcissistic song of all time.

Right on. I like the lyrics and the story-telling style, but the music just doesn't change enough to require a 6 minute track.

I absolutely loved it and now it's become "meh" for me, I think I just listened to it too much.

And just for the record I think No Code kicks ass

This song sounds a bit like Of The Girl to me for some reason. It jsut always makes me think of that song.
