This is from GQ magazine recently
1. They sell out arenas in two minutes, and you can't name any of their last five albums.
2. Their voluminous collection of live recordings, allowing fans to bicker over which version of "Brain of J" was better -- Ljubljana 6/19/00 or Sacramento 10/30/00.
3. Sound great in a Volvo S60.
4. Odd NBA connections. Dead had Bill Walton as a superfan; PJ briefly called themselves Mookie Blaylock and named their first album Ten, after Blaylock's number.
5. Love to cover Bob Dylan.
6. Played with Neil Young.
7. Quirky side projects -- Jerry Garcia had New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Bob Weir has Ratdog; PJ's Mike McCready has the Rockfords, Stone Gossard has Brad, and Jeff Ament has Three Fish.
8. A lot better than Phish.
9. Generally bad hair.
10. Two words: shorts onstage.
Yea the Phish one was my favorite. I used to work with this huge Phish fan & we'd always argue who was better between PJ & Phish, so that brought a to me

anyone find it odd that for the past 3 years or so (especially over on that "other" board that ya'll love so much, and half were banned from) ... that the boards have really been beating the whole "PJ is like the GD" and "Pearl Jam Fans are like GD Fans" "PJ is to Grunge what GD were to Psychedelic Rock" thing TO DEATH ...
and suddenly within a month of the release of this new album,
no less than FOUR magazines\publications have run with a story about PJ as either being the new GD, being like the GD, having fans like the GD, or their shows being equivilant to a GD show.
I just think it's odd that fans started saying this around '03 alot,
and now the media is running with it hardcore.

Shouldn't this be something like:
1. Smelly fans
2. Amount of weed smoked at shows
3. .....
Whatever, I just don't get or support the GD comparisons.

i'm not really a dead fan at all. they have some good songs, i think alot of it sounds the same though. i can respect their career and i think its cool pearl jam is compared to them.
on a side note, phish fucking sucks.

the only dead song i've heard is casey jones, decent and catchy but nothing that great

eddie vedder buttsex?
uh, blue note.
try ANYTHING off of American Beauty,
if you like darker stuff try anything off of Aoxomaxoa ...
other than that, you got Athems of the Sun for "Born Crosseyed" and then you'd have to hop and pick around off of other albums to find quality studio work, imho ... the dead started to suck on record after the begining of the 70s.
