The Top 10 Bands That Pissed It All Away

http://jockconference.com/blog/2006/06/the_top_10_bands_that_pissed_i.html

10. Pearl Jam – Six months ago Pearl Jam would have been a lot higher on this list, however the release of their latest single and its success at radio forced me to move them further down the list.

I do believe their appearance on this list is still warranted when you take into account the heights to which Eddie and the crew soared in the early-90’s, only to be missing from the scene for much of the next decade.

Pearl Jam’s primary difficulty seems to be in breaking away from the perceived fan pressure to be different. Understandable considering Pearl Jam’s unique sound is what set them apart in the first place. At some point however, you expect the group to settle down and sound like, well, “Pearl Jam”. It hasn’t really worked out that way though. Every CD seems to have some new direction or sound, and it’s not a good thing. Not everything can be avant-garde and edgy. How about some rock or something, huh guys?

---------------------------------------

This guy is a fucking idiot. He has no idea what the hell he is talking about.
He is the 30 year old balding frat guy with two beers and a dip in his lip asking everyone for a hit of their joint yelling EVEN FLOW at the show.

FUCK!

He is the 30 year old

this could be you in a few years if the band you love and cherish makes decisions you disagree with

and then some other dude will have a post like this:

some other dude wrote:

He is the 30 year old that wanted PJ to be __insert an existential quality___

ha ha ha.
i'm cracking myself up

you might not be bald though, and you might be able to score your own weed, which is more than I can say for myself (now, AND more so in a few years) which has got to count for something

said before and said again: do you really want to knock someone else's opinion than yours just because it's divergent and is predicated on a different set of values.

**NEWSFLASH**

If everybody in the world loved Pearl Jam, then your 10C number would probably get you seats in the parking lot of the Superdome.

I just have to say, "Troy Dayton" might be the most stereotypical jock name that anyone ever invented.

I have vehemently defended Pearl Jam the band and the PJ the record the past few months, mostly against uninformed wanker magazine reviews of the record. But, I have to say, this thread and the Sharon Osbourne thread smack of hypersensitivity. S.O. simply said PJ wouldnt fit at Ozzfest...I heartily agree!...I'm sure no one at the U2 or the Rolling Stones message board is up in arms about not getting invited to it!! And this commentary....this is very typical of the common, non-cerebral rock fan. To me, he gives PJ a compliment while trying to criticize them....most of us with an ear for that sort of thing like the experimentation and the fact that a lot of their songs from 1995 through 2004 or so sound more like Bob Dylan or Bruce Springsteen or Tom Waits than like some regurgitated PJ 1992 radio song. I'm sure that goof never has never listened to one song on Lost Dogs, nor has he been to a show since 1994. If he had done either, they probablyt wouldnt be on this list of bands that for the most part (other than PJ) arent together anymore. Its ok that they are on his list, he didnt really rip them and he is not completely wrong. Quit being so sensitive!!!

Sharon said that PJ had gone too mainstream, something which is the opposite of true, and very hypocritical considering her family's fame, and Ozzfest getting Limp Bizkit and korn and the like to play it.
But I really don't care about people saying shit about Pearl Jam any more than I care about Stip's opinion on them, and I could care less about either.

Yeah man, that's right. You're an idiot if you like Even Flow or you just went to see Even Flow.

And I agree with this Troy Dayton guy, I miss the old days too.

Actually, I have always believed that had they made Ten part 3, 4 and then maybe 5 (I dont think they would have made it that far)....they would be long done, like every other band from that era. Maybe by now they would have had a reunion tour or something silly like that, but No Code saved their career, and then subsequently emphasizing touring and being fan friendly (bootlegs, B-sides) has given them longevity and the relative anonimity to grow as a band and as people. Troy isnt really that far off, but he just missed that point or the essence of that band.l
