(*and please don't merge this with that other thread about Come Back being SO GOOD, I want to know people's thoughts for releasing the song for Johnny, not the quality of the song)

me too. Unless Ed really dreams about him in a way that when he wakes up it feels like he's next to him, that would be kinda gay. I think it's one of those Ed wrote as if from the perspective of another character who's lost a loved one much like Elderly Woman or Nothingman.

Ed said half the album is about Johnny. If I remember right, Ed said he used to sleep in Johnny's bed next to him when he was sick.
I also think that Parachutes is about Johny too. If you read the lyrics, it sounds like a conversation they had together often.....just makes you wonder.

Dude, you're going to need quotes to back those statements up. My understanding is the urgent, punk approach to a lot of the songs and the sentiment of Come Back were inspired by Johhny's death not the actual specifics of the songs or their relationship.

Ed said in a Canadian interview that this song was about Johnny and from both his and Johnny's wife's perspective.
I also agree that Parachutes is at least partly about that relationship.
And certainly Life Wasted stems from that loss.
Johnny is all over this album
