this reminds me of an interview with pete townsend on the live at the isle of wight, and the tommy/quodrphenia dvd for that matter, where he talks about the ocean being a symbol for escape.

I like how untitled extends this song live, honestly its a great song, but without that tag, I wish they had extended the song a bit longer or done some more to it in terms of length.

but either way the car is the vehicle for getting clear. It’s a powerful symbol for escape (at least in the U.S.—does it have the same power in Europe or SA? My guess would be no).

japan/china = bike songs

5 stars....it was a tossup between 4 and 5 but its on the best album ever so there you go. And it goes magically with Untitled live.
I read that this was written by Ed sitting in his hotel room looking over the busy streets of Italy, and this image is a beautiful thing for me. Just have this picture of him looking out at peace with the world, seeing the hustle and bustle of the street below and feeling at ease with how calm the world can be.
I really dont see it as getting the fuck out of a bad situation like has been said before, but I choose my own interpretation as I often do. I love the post above about playing on the way out of town though!
I love it how Stone gets the start sounding like a car starting, and then pulling out onto the journey. I think 'ask, im an ear' is a bit of a red light though like others said....it couples so well with the album artwork, and im staring at a big Yield tour poster as I type...wow I just fell in love with this song again. Thanks!

i'll acknowledge that the verses are good.. but muscally it never grabbed me and really has kept me from getting into the song, so it ends up being two stars because its missing something

This song gets 4 stars from me, 5 stars with "untitled" before it. Great song live. Love when he says "fuck it" real fast. Favorite of the car songs.

"There's a lot to be said for nowhere" is one of my favorite lines off of Yield (and people, there are a lot of great ones on that album). Jack Irons' drumming is perfect, the guitars sound great, and Ed nails the vocal delivery. Not a masterpiece, but a great little song.
