I also still need covers from
Jimx6
Cortez the killer
Marker MXL
Delight in our youth
Margret Spread
The last two have already spoken to me.

Two nice first round entries. I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet.

Both entries are very well done. I was impressed with the guitar playing on both, as well as the recording quality...nicely done! Very tough to choose, but i think i'm going to have to give the edge to Lekunk 58 based on his vocal delivery, though i know from experience that YL is a much tougher one to sing than Off He Goes...there are parts of YL that are way out of my range too!

Hmmm...vocals are tough on both of these but these are both hard tunes to sing for very different reasons. I went with Off He Goes as it comes closer to the mark. I like the guitar very much in both...

damn i forgot how tough these decisions are...
i welcome the return of the accordian. a very versatile intrument indeed! it added a lot to off he goes. a great version all around.
i'm gonna have to give my vote to walter. i really like the guitar playing on YL, i love how it's played very much with feel rather than ripping off any kind of improv mike does. you make the song your own while maintaining loyalty to the original. well done.

i gotta tell you i was disappointed by both entries. more so by walter and i'll tell you why. obviously they've done good work if they're at this point in the tourny but i just didn't feel it. YL is a tough song to do and i think the singing and pace were just a little off.
off he goes isn't a song i like by any means but i thought it was done as well as most people could do it. so that gets the nod.

these are two songs i'm considering covering if i make it to later rounds, so it was interesting to see them up head to head. i thought 'off he goes' was better all around - production, vocals, original interpretation, and the accordian is sweet. nice work.

What are you folks using for your drums? Is it just a drum machine program, and if so any suggestions on what program i should look to download?
I highly recommend Fruity Loops. You can make em sound pretty darn close to real if you find the right drum sounds to put in there. There are also a ton of different effects you can put on each drum, not to mention the god I worship, EQ.
By the way, great job on Oceans...a bit belated a response here.

HOLY SHIT to both of you.
That's all I have for now. There is no justice in the world because both of you deserve to advance. I only have great things to say about both songs. Every song both of you have entered has been stellar and no one should need an elimination.
I'm holding off on voting for now.

sorry..I know people are trying to diplomatic, but this isn't close...just like all the bookshelf contests. Bookshelf without a doubt. Against anyone else I believe Black would have won.
