I love these little reminders that Pearl Jam is not like me. Below is a paragraph from an article in Fortune about Walmart's efforts to turn green. Mentions Stone scuba-diving with Rob Walton, who splits a $80 billion dollar fortune with his siblings. I would definitely consider anyone who goes to a Costa Rican park with billionaries to be one of the "haves" spoken of in 1/2 Full (there ain't gonna be/ no middle anymore, it's been said before/ the haves be having more, yet still bored).
Man, this band has made a lot of money off of me. Glad I could help fund Stone's little trips.
Rob Walton, his son Ben, Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, and conservationist Peter Seligmann were scuba-diving off Coco Island, a lush, uninhabited Costa Rican national park populated by manta rays, dolphins, and sharks.

if I had Stone's money I'd scuba dive in the money, a la Scrooge McDuck.

Hopefully the Walton kids will know how to treat human beings al ittle bit better than there predecesors. Maybe Stone was discussing ways for Wal Mart to help reduce emmmsions, they are only biggest compnay in the US.

Frederich Engels (Marx's partner in crime) had rich families, ran a factory, and used his money to live well and help Karl Marx pay his bills. The problem between rich and poor is structural/systemic. It goes far beyond individuals and how much money they have. The more important dividing line is what you are willing to do to resist/change that system. To say that you have to be poor to speak for or understand have-nots privelages a bullshit notion of authenticity

Partly, yes. Actually as he got closer to Marx his family chose to dissociate from him.
True, but he still had his money. When marx was writing Kapital Engels was basically subsidizing his family (and Marx's live-in maid)

Yeah kinda. It is really hard to say I think cause the amount of facts you get to know about this depends on who wrote the book you read about it, you know...

The fact that Marx had a live in maid is probably more important to my point than Engels supporting him.

I bet she did it out of affection for him.
