I always thought that Hey Foxymophandlemama, Pry To, and Red* was just other material played backwards, never figured out how to test that theory, has anyone else thought that or am I crazy?

PS if anything, I think Red* is the line "I'm not trying to make a difference" line from No Way played backwards at different speeds. The drums match up perfectly. One of my friends thinks it's MFC backwards. What do you guys think?

None of them are other songs backwards...

The Colour Red/Red Dot is a drum piece Jack wrote, it was used as their intro music as far back as the 1995 tour.

Stupid Mop and Pry To are just the sound of the band jamming, there might be some backwards overdubbing of stuff onto Stupid Mop but it's just a Jack/Ed/Jeff jam otherwise.

"Pete Townshend, oh he saved my life"

is this from pry, to backwards?

If you play God's Dice at half speed in reverse you'll hear Ed sing order wings and a microbeer at a Chicago bar before storming out in a rage because his waitress asked him to sign her copy of Human Clay.

After he signs the CD, I mean.

Maybe not Red*, but if you have heard the way voices sound backwards, they sound JUST like Stupidmop and Pry To do. Until someone actually plays them backwards, we'll never know. Even the drums and guitar/bass licks on Stupidmop sound backwards. They have that weird vacuum-like sound.

On an unrelated note, Hey Foxymophandlemama is some creepy-ass shit. I love it but fuck man, it's creepy!!! :haha:

Plenty of people have played those songs backwards over the last decade and a half, I'm sure. It takes a matter of seconds in an audio editing program.

I'm pretty sure the "Oh Pete Townshend, you saved my life" is unintentional - it's not as if it was recorded backwards. It just so happens that the "p-r-i-v-a-c-y is priceless to me" part sounds kinda like that backwards (if you really use your imagination).

There's backwards guitar in Stupid Mop but it's not like the whole song has been flipped backwards. For the most part it's just a straight noisy bass, drum and guitar improv jam with those creepy samples added in.

The Pete Townsend thing is absolutely intentional. It's clear as day.

On Pry To, the second half of the vocal (supposedly, '...is priceless to me') is intentionally reversed.

The main give away is that it doesn't actually sound like 'is priceless to me'.

Isn't it "righteous to me?"
