I was browsing Best Buy during my lunch break, and there was one copy of Rearviewmirror left on the shelf. I own all of the tunes on the disc already (of course), but for some reason the appeal of hearing PJ's sprawling career on two discs spliced into "heavy" and "soft" sections hit my buying impulse today more than ever. Sampled both discs in the car and, my, the majority of these tunes sound pretty mighty back-to-back. I gotta say, for a greatest hits package, this is one of the most comprehensive and balanced that I've heard.

There's something cool about opening a Pearl Jam disc that I bought at a store. It gives me warmth and vitality.

my sister got me rvm as a present like a year ago. i never had the intention of buying it. i never really got into it.

what they should do is release a double cd live sampler, like a two disc live on two legs, with select versions spanning all their career.

or maybe i should just go listen to gh's live compilation

I listened to disc 1 today, for the first time in a long while.

thats really the only reason that I bought it. they are definitely interesting to hear. from what I remember, i think a couple other tracks had slight variations as well, like who you are.

I wasn't planning to get RVM either, but got it as a Christmas present from my girlfriend.

I enjoy it. I like to bring it to work because it's a crowd pleaser. I love the remixes and alternate versions. (SOLAT is one too)

To my surprise, I listen to it more often than I expected.

I love the packaging. I know some people thought the outside cover / inside cover thing was cheesy but I think its great. Digging up that old photo to match up with the "rearview mirror" title was very cool.

It is also nice to have studio versions of I Got Id and Man of the Hour on a cd full of other songs rather then a two track disc.

Yep, not to mention reconnecting me to 'Light Years'. I haven't heard that tune in ages, and after listening to it repeatedly the last couple days, I'm reminded just how amazing, honest, and heartfelt it really is. Top 10 Pearl Jam? Easily.

anybody having problems with their CD's?

I bought RVM used and it skipped during Man of the Hour and YLB. I brought it back for another used CD. The girl told me that they have had problems with new versions of RVM as well as used.
