I just watched Walk The Line, wonderful movie...and it got me thinking...Every song that Cash covered, became better and all album closers from PJ are the kind of song (slow, strong lyrics) that Cash would nail to perfection! Just to imagine the Man in Black singing Indifference give me chills.

Cash doing "All or None" would have been something to witness.

You're right. Any one of them would have been great.

Interesting idea. Would've loved to hear him cover PJ. Immortality or Indifference would've been my picks.

At least we got to hear him do Soundgarden.

I dont even know who is this rick rubin guy, but if its really his fault for Cash didnt cover a PJ song, he truly deserves to die.

Immortality would also've been good... and I think Around The Bend, too...! :D

It's not the closer but how about Come Back?
I wouldn't mind hearing Willie Nelson cover it though.

Yes I'm serious. I'm sure Willie would slow it down but think of how he sounds on songs like Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain, Ain't it Funny, Crazy and Always on My Mind. Lyrically, and to extent musically, Come Back has always struck as something Willie Nelson would write.

I'd rather listen to Willie Nelson than Johnny Cash and I don't like WN all that much.

As much as I hate Ten, I'd love to hear Mr. Cash cover Release. I can almost hear him singing the line "Oh dear Dad, can you see me now?".

those rick rubin sessions proved definitively that there is no song Johnny Cash couldn't cover and cover well

Except for Desperado and Bridge Over Troubled Water, perhaps.

i like Cash on both of them. BOTB sounds strange on first listen, but it grows on you.
