Hey guys
i was listening to the stage college boot last night and just before they play down eddie says "This next songs a B-Side, i didnt make the last record but it should of" or somehting along those lines.
My question is if the band loves it so much why wasnt it on Riot Act?
Who decides what songs should be on the records
is it the band most or do the record contract people have some influence on it?

I'm sure it was Ed's decision, and a horrible one at that. I know we have other threads in this forum about why Riot Act's 3 b-sides didn't make the album. Criminal I tell ya, just criminal.

it would have redeemed riot act. easily the best song from that era.

No not because it doesnt suck but the feel of the song wouldnt suit the album. Most of Riot Act songs to have a more dark rock sound but down just wouldnt fit anywhere in the album
well thats what i think anyway

That's kind of my point; had Down, Undone and Other Side made the album, it would have changed the complexion and feel of the album for the better. I'm not saying I dislike Riot Act the way it is, because nothing could be further from the truth. But it would have been ever better if those 3 tracks made the final cut and were sequenced correctly within it.

I always thought it would have fit just fine between Save You and LBC. Musically, anyway.
Great call!
Either Otherside or Undone could easily replace Help, Help on the album without too much complaint from me...there are vey few songs I cannot listen too from pearl jam - and that song is number one on my very short list
