Does anyone know of a program that will allow you to create "instrumental" versions of songs?

Is it possible to reduce the vocal track or something similar? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

yes it is possible, but it sounds like shit because there will be more gone than just the vocals.

very true. i think there are some really good programs out there, but the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head is the filter you can use in Nero burning software.

Vocals are usually recorded in a certain frequency range. There are programs out there that target that range and remove those frequencies. However other instruments often overlap into that range. Most notably bass.
If you use Winamp, I think there is a vocal remover plugin. There are also plugins out there for DirectX and VST compatible applications. Most all of them are free.

i have Adobe Audition at work and it will remove vocals, but it will remove anything in that freq range so it sounds watered down. figure it as anything that comes out of your center speaker in a surround sound will be lost.

I used that link, and it works pretty good. Can still hear some vocals, and I guess you lose a bit, but it's a new angle on the songs in my opinion. Thanks a lot.
