GRUNGE PIONEERS MALFUNKSHUN REUNITE

Influential Seattle, Washington rock group MALFUNKSHUN has reformed to honour the death of frontman ANDY WOOD. The late singer's brother and bandmate KEVIN WOOD has found a stash of his sibling's lyrics that he never worked into songs before his death 16 years ago (1990) and now he wants to return to the studio with his bandmates to record new material. The proposed project will result in the release of the group's first full-length album. Despite the fact the group rarely recorded or toured outside its native Washington state, Malfunkshun is often linked with the area's grunge scene. After disbanding Malfunkshun, Wood formed grunge supergroup MOTHER LOVE BONE with PEARL JAM stars STONE GOSSARD and JEFF AMENT. The group's upcoming debut album will feature Malfunkshun favourites like LOVE CHILD and MY LOVE, as well as the new tracks featuring the late Wood's lyrics.

i'm sorry, i've traded correspondences with Kevin before and i guess he's a nice enough guy, but this just reeks of desperation. Malfunkshun was a three-piece and without Andy, it's really not much of anything. i say, let sleeping dogs lay and Kevin should just move on.

i don't know what you mean. like andy wrote the songs, was the lead singer, played bass/piano. obviously kevin is a good guitar player but they were mostly a band with a shtick and not like re-inventing the wheel of rock. most of the band was centered on the personality of andy. so i don't know why kevin would want to resurrect something where the central piece is missing.

I mean was malfunshun such an important band at all that their reuiniting in any form is significant?
