Any guesses as to who the female is singing back-up vocals during the chorus of this song?

Sade 7?

"ballhog or tugboat" was a pretty decent album, although this song was my only reason for getting it. 'big train' and 'chinese firedrill' were quite good though. if you can track down brisbane '95 (i think it was brisbane), dave grohl joins in on drums like he did on the album.

The vinyl is beautiful: bright blue double album with quotes scratched around the middle.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

Speaking as a child of the 70s... :D

I always enjoyed this song... one day I would love to hear PJ play it live.

ballhog or tugboat is a great album. Interesting version of Tough Knarl... and Song For Madonna is cool too... i think that is what that one is called... but overall cool album... and yeah against the 70s is why i got it initially too

The backup singer is Carla Bozulrich. She sings for Geraldine Fibbers and does some good country solo albums (has done songs w/ Willie Nelson, etc).

Thank you very much. That is one obscure piece of trivia.

I actually got to see Watt and Vedder play this live at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. The Bill was Hovercraft/Mike Watt and Guests/Foo Fighters. Actually bumped in to Ed before the show downstairs near the dressing room.

I have never seen them together but in 2000 we got many Against the 70's during the European PJ tour, with different 'speaking as' tags every time :)
And Mike Watt live is always great! I'll see him in Amsterdam again on the 22nd of this month, for free :).

groetjes,
Mirella :)
